Again I find myself putting off more pressing work so I can
bang out a review of a cool DVD for J-Mate. Once again this
is a very biased review on my part, since I do think Yinling
is cool
Yinling is new kind of creature
in Japan: a Race Queen, that is, one of those very lovely
girls who stand around and look sexy with corporate logos
on their tiny uniforms. But she's from Taiwan, which makes
her special right off the bat. She's even more special because
of her highly developed sense of eros and the erotic things
she is willing to do for the camera, making her something
closer to an adult video actress, although her clothes are
on (well, mostly).
The DVD is basically a perfect
moving pictures version of the bold and interesting Yinling
of Joytoy photobook series published in 2001. It is a 68 minute
romp through China and Taiwan, filled with the incredible,
almost undescribably cool eroticism of the lovely creature.
The camer and aided by many bizarre objects (toy guns, swords
that look like they came out of a bad Hong Kong movie, insanely
funny prots like a magazine of Star Trek from the 1960's Yinling
reads while on the toilet). Besides the incredibly beautiful
erotic costumes Yinling wears as she rubs her body erotically,
often in some of China's most hallowed places, the aesthetic
universe that the filmmaker brings us is complete. Created
by Russian director/photographer Hirakanovsky Kuratachenko
(this is what the official site says, although there's a chance
this is an outrageous penname of some Japanese director),
the DVD is filled with interesting pseudo-Asian, pseudo-Communist
elements, such as old 1950's images of Red China, but with
text in Russian, images of Yinling wearing a military uniform
of the height of the communist era (then pulling it off and
wearing almost nothing underneath).
It's also cool because, for 90%
of the DVD, there are no spoken words at all -- everything
is carried by the strength of the video and imagery. Yinling
walks through a crowded city in a bizarre sexy costume, holding
several toy guns. Flash to a scene of her on a mountain, cutting
air with a sword. Then a shower scene that's quite erotic.
Yinling assumes the role of a hitman and surprises herself,
sitting on the toilet. She then goes into the hotel room and
finds herself again, sitting on the bed doing sexy things
(mock-masturbating, I guess you'd say). She pops a condom
in her mouth while she plays with herself -- no Race Queen
we've seen up til now would do this. She walks out the door
and playfully shows you her panties -- she's good at that.
Some of the most famous palces
in China appear in this DVD, and we wonder how they managed
to get this footage without being shot and having their internal
organs sold to the West. There's no actual nudity, but much
of the erotic things Yinling does surpass pornography, and
I wonder how they managed it all. They are in the Forbidden
City in Bejing -- that's not the best place to start masturbating,
or so I imagine. The beautiful places they film the video
really add to the mystique and boldness of the production
as a whole.
It's a region 2 DVD, so you need
to either watch it on your computer, or spring for a code
free DVD player. It'll be worth it. (See J-List for some good
news on this front.) My recommendation is, if you dig this
kind of ultra-pop-culture celebration of Asian culture, and
if dig slender women that look great, by all means, pick it
up! Originally posted April 27, 2002.
