"This is not Love. This is Sex."
In the 21st century, the Genom
Corporation creates a "race" of biological entities called
I.K.U. Coders. Their mission, to enhance the human sexual
experience through experimentation of their own. Via special
data collectors, these Gen-XXX biologicals roam the neon-flesh
night in search of the ultimate pleasures. To retrieve the
data collected, special I.K.U. Runner Units were created.
They hunt the I.K.U. Coders with extreme prejudice and lust.
That's the introduction to this
mind-blazing film by Taiwanese-born director Shu Lea Cheang,
a media maven with no fixed address, who wanders the world
and the media streams of other cultures to her latest projects.
At the outset, it's difficult
to know what to expect from this film; is it a film? Is it
AV? Is there a plot, or at least a method to this madness?
While it would be pushing it to say that there is a plot in
this movie, there certainly is a plot device: sex! And it
works very well. It would be better to say that this feature
is a movie length group of vignettes based on several popular
sci-fi movies, both Western and Japanese. And that it closely
resembles the ecstasy shown in adult movie theaters across
America (and assumably Europe). And though it blatantly rips
off other movies, at least it makes no excuses. Moreover,
it does it with it's own unique twist and sexuality that will
absolutely not be denied. Guaranteed, this is unlike any other
Japanese film currently in print.
The I.K.U. Coders have no prejudices
or sexual hang ups. They have no preferences or limitations.
They only have the desire to collect their data in a new millennium
Japan enmeshed in underground playgrounds where Tokyo Rose
is queen, shady parking lot drug deals where cross dressers
fly high, streetside cardboard boxes cum messianic temples
of lust, and coffin hotels that sell clean underwear from
vending machines. Groove with this stylized record of seven
different Reiko I.K.U. models as they parallel port mankind's
deepest desires and lusts. This is William Gibson's mind on
drugs. Any questions?
This is one of the most erotic
films ever. If you see it, see it with someone you love (or
at least lust). Gauranteed it will turn everyone in the room
on. And when it does, just let it roll. Let it enhance the
experience of sharing when the moment comes.
Filmed in 4:3 format for excellent
quality. Tons of extra features including a "making of", trailers,
cut scenes, an interview with the Taiwanese-born director
Shu Lea Cheang (in English), and features the AV talents of
Maria Yumeno and Miho Ariga. 74 minutes. IKU Project contains
lesbian and bi-curious sexual themes.
