Recently, a Soft On Demand awards ceremony took place in the Tokyo Shinjuku Century Hyatt hotel. It was during this ceremony that Nana Natsume, who was to debut on January 8th, made her first public appearance as the host. Interviewer: Did you want to become an actress when you were in high school?

Natsume: Not really. I'm a pretty shy girl. I was more focused on doing things that came to my mind. I might've wanted to become an actress back then, but I never seriously thought that I would become one. Now I think I can do anything I put my mind to.

Interviewer: When did you first get scouted?

Natsume: When I was 20. A guy came up to me in Osaka and offered me a job in Tokyo. The first thing I did was a magazine shoot for GOKUH. Then I was in the Photobook "727" and an Image DVD called "nana". Sanrio is one of the top character licensors in the world, having more or less created the business model of doing business by creating something that doesn't really exist and licensing its use to other companies. One of the many companies that license Sanrio's characters for their products was a Japanese company called Genyo Co. Ltd. Genyo made a wide variety of products, from bento boxes to children's toys to chopsticks, many with the Hello Kitty character on them. They scored big in the late 1990's with an off-the-wall hit, a series of Hello Kitty toys which featured a different Kitty figure from each of Japan's 47 prefectures, each representing something the prefecture was famous for. (The figure from Gunma Prefecture, where we live, represented a wooden kokeshi doll.)

In 1997, Genyo designed a product that would live in infamy: the Hello Kitty vibrating shoulder massager, which really is a shoulder massager (trust us -- it says so on the package). Sanrio approved this design without batting an eye, and the product enjoyed modest sales in toy shops and in family restaurants like Denny's and Coco's. It wasn't until 1999 or so that people began to catch on to the fact that the Hello Kitty massager had other potential uses, and with amazing speed, they started popping up in adult videos in Japan. The next thing anyone knew, they had changed into a cult adult item, sold in vending machines in love hotels -- after all, what self-respecting man wouldn't buy his girl a Hello Kitty vibrator when she asked him for one?

Casual Romance Club is supposedly along the lines of the bishoujo game "True Love", which is still one of my favorite bishoujo games to date. You are given a month to win somebody's heart, after which you'll ask the girl of your choice to keep seeing you even after the club adjourns. It's a happy ending if she agrees, and it simply means you failed to win her heart if she doesn't. It's somewhat like "True Love" in the sense that you fill each day with activities. You can chat with a girl, ask her out, or make an appointment for a weekend date. But that's about all the two games have in common. Casual Romance Club is a totally different experience altogether.

As I've mentioned earlier, twelve girls are available for your romancing pleasure. Each game day starts at the Starry Sky restaurant, with the club notebook laid out for you. The club notebook has the lowdown on all the girls -- their basic statistics, pictures, horoscopes, likes, dislikes, etc. The girls also record their thoughts and reactions on daily events next to their horoscopes, so reading the club notebook can prove vital to your success. I was able to win the first two girls I picked out, and so I thought that simply concentrating on one girl was enough to win her heart. I was wrong. When I tried to win Shiina / Bridget (the girls all have Western and Japanese names, it's up to you to choose which to use while playing the game), I spent every ounce of my time and efforts on her but was far from getting her to like me by the end of the game. I wound up alone. Casual Romance Club was not as simple as I thought. I proceeded to try and win Ayumu / Paige next, and I mysteriously lost to one of the other guys in the club by the third game week.

If getting a girlfriend wasn't enough challenge, there's also getting 100% of the CGs in a girl's photo album. You can very well get the good ending without ever getting all her pictures. You need to be wary of what you say when having a private chat, from picking the day's topic to responding appropriately to the girl you are talking to. Given the girls' varying personalities, the best topics, questions, and answers are never the same. You really have to keep everything you know about the girl in mind when interacting with her. Casual Romance Club could very well be considered as one of the most realistic dating simulations given this type of gameplay.

Casual Romance Club's artwork is excellent. Character designs are beautiful, and the CGs are rendered in varying styles. The game images are more solidly drawn and vibrant, while the final ending images (see screenshots below) possess the softer appearance of what looks like hand-blended pastel crayons. Since this is an original Japanese release, the hentai scenes all have mosaics for the lower genital areas. I can honestly say that the mosaics were really quite unobtrusive and did not really affect my enjoyment of the game in any way though. Casual Romance Club is bilingual as well. You can choose to have the character voices in Japanese or English, and both tracks are performed by the same Japanese voice actresses. While their English speaking skills vary, I thought the whole bilingual concept worked very well.

Casual Romance Club is easily one of the best, if not the best dating simulation out in the market today. Since it's very challenging, there's a lot of replay value in store. It's also pretty straight all throughout -- no rape, violence, or sadomasochism ever occurs at any point in the game. It even has the most eye-poppingly impressive game manual I've ever laid eyes on -- hardbound, full-color glossy pages, and bilingual to boot! If you should decide to try out an import bishoujo game, make this one it.

Casual Romance Club is being sold in Japan for a retail price of 8800 yen. It's on DVD-ROM. This is one of the very few straight-from-Japan games that's bilingual. It's on sale for $49.95 at J-List (reduced from $68).

Rio: About eight. That was after I collapsed and had to take time off. I got fevers and felt bad at the worst times, on the weekend (laughs). Interviewer: They have to find the right place. I thought you would have been in more videos since you're so popular. You haven't been in any indies videos?

Rio: I wouldn't sell myself like that. It would end my career. I couldn't take any of that really hardcore stuff. I think I have matured beyond that.

Fuck! series (of which one of the best has to be the Berlin version with all the raver girls!), but that doesn't at all limit it in any way. In scope and pure hardcore sexual erotica, this DVD rocks!

Yes, indeed, AV is AV, sex is sex, but if it's not erotic, why am I watching? All too often, the girls they audition and pay to star in the films can be very non-professional about the work. As far as I'm concerned, these ladies aren't just paid to spread their legs, they are paid (and thereby obligated) to make the viewing audience believe they are enjoying it -- whether they are or aren't (hopefully they are!). The girls of Budapest were wild and ready for action. I didn't have a hard time (or rather I did -- insert tongue firmly into cheek) believing these girls were enjoying themselves. As do the guys.

And why not? Each of the girls was a beautiful, cheerful, friendly, young twenty-something woman with sexual wiles that drive a man insane. It was also utterly fascinating to see how many of them were shaved either completely or partially. Stunning, carefully cropped pubic mounds were a complete turn on, as were their "club girl" fashion and fun attitudes. Very open to their Japanese partner-lovers. Open-minded to trying to speak Japanese (and doing it surprisingly well!) on camera. It was a sexual melting pot of Japanse, English and Hungarian languages, all coming together in the international language of sex!

Heavily into amateur over professional work, I found this to be well worth my time. Sexual liasons included oral sex, outdoor sex, balcony sex, upskirt shots, masturbation (which the girl really got into!), lesbian sex, 3P (threesome in English), light spanking (I couldn't believe how naturally this couple performed, it was actually if they had been together for years), countertop sex, fingerbanging, to name just a few. Review:
One of my bishoujo game frustrations has always been the fact that I had not been able to play the bishoujo RPG "Knights of Xentar" when it was released by the now defunct Megatech Games. I've loved Japanese RPGs for as long as I can remember, and Knights of Xentar was the first English-translated bishoujo RPG ever. When Peach Princess first informed me that they were going to release Brave Soul, I was as excited as any RPG and bishoujo game enthusiast could be. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've waited years to play this game... and my expectations were high.

In Brave Soul, you take on the role of Rudy, a swordsman who joins a guild to become a hunter. The game's premises are actually quite simple: be the best hunter you can be, fight evil, and get yourself a girlfriend/wife. There's a grand total of six girls you can end up with: Alicia, the dead-ringer for the Moon Goddess; Ruby, a sassy Robin Hood-esque female thief who steals from the rich and gives to the poor; Carroll, a powerful magician who's deathly afraid of the undead; Marine, the playful cat girl who's descended from an elder race; and lastly, two secret characters whom you have to unlock on your own.

Unlike the usual bishoujo game where all you have to do is pick a decision, Brave Soul requires much more of an effort to play through. You form parties, visit towns, buy and sell items, solve puzzles, battle through dungeons -- all that along with picking the right answers in order to impress the girls you're with. You score love points by taking on missions that the girl(s) like and approve of, and by staying at inns in order to seek the girl(s) out during your free time. Special events unfold if you have enough love points by the time you go see a girl. You can only take along two girls in your party and so you'll really have to replay this game several times to get all the endings and bonuses.

I wasn't expecting the RPG elements to be challenging since this was primarily still a bishoujo game. Lo and behold, most dungeons consisted of at least ten levels with a gazillion monsters ready to attack your party... and at the last level there would almost always be a big boss, just like most RPGs. I was so confident that I made the grave mistake of choosing the difficult setting for the game, which almost drove me to tear my hair out in frustration many times. This game is packed to the gills -- additional dungeons, quests, and modes can be unlocked every time you beat the game. Worth a special mention is the map mode. After you finish the game once, the map mode becomes available in your camp screen. It shows you exactly where you are in a dungeon, and more importantly, where the exit is. If you beat the game several times you'll be given the option to start off with the highest level attained and all your items intact so that going through the game on your nth time would be a breeze (unless you're a masochist and you choose the nightmare mode).

In terms of visuals, Brave Soul is excellent in all aspects. I really liked the character designs and the CGs were nothing short of perfect. The 2D sprite mode when you're adventuring is reminiscent of how earlier Japanese RPGs such as Final Fantasy 1-6, Arc the Lad, and the original Legend of Zelda looked. The sex scenes were pretty graphic albeit in a few CGs, Rudy's penis would either be hidden from view or invisible. There also aren't any hardcore stuff like S&M or bondage. It's all straightforward heterosexual action. Take note that you can only make love to a girl if you stay at an inn, and getting one girl to bed automatically locks out all the other girls... so better make sure that the girl you're going to do is the girl that you want to end up with.

Brave Soul is to date the most massive, most challenging, and most rewarding bishoujo game I've ever played. Replaying is anything but tedious since there are a gazillion things to unlock and discover, and there are numerous features that make your life a whole lot easier each time you go through it. Whoever feels that bishoujo games are thin on gameplay and entertainment value should give this one a spin. This is definitely one title any bishoujo game fan should not miss.

No one can precisely know for sure when games were invented, but one can boldly declare that we civilized human beings have a passion for them. One of the precursors to modern board games, Mancala, was born on the fertile banks of the Nile river. Monopoly, a board game invented at the height of The Great Depression, has been translated into 26 different languages and remains a best seller to this very day. Why do we love board games so much? That's a cosmic secret privy only to Buddha himself, but Hobibox Europe hopes that Viper Paradice will engage your undivided attention and keep you deeply entertained. There had been a whole series of Viper Island desktop accessories and toys prior to the creation of Viper Paradice, so Sogna is not inexperienced in the art of creating puzzle games. Whether the Bishoujo game company Sogna, whose sole claim to fame is producing ero-games with fluid full-screen animation, make a competent board game remains to be seen. Are you ready? Then let the game begin!

I've got to hand it to Sogna, if there's something they excel at, it's drawing sexy, attractive female protagonists. Featured prominently on the cover of the case of Viper Paradice, and on the splash screen, are Asuka, Carrera, Mika and Akira, each representing their own Sogna alphabet series. These four animated poster girls are your default selection of animated tokens, which actually don't have any impact on the gameplay, only cool to look at, just as picking the battleship in Monopoly as your token will not miraculously give you an edge over picking the terrier. Once you've selected the character you desire, and no pun was intended, you can play the game by choosing from a selection of three different victory conditions: complete a predetermined set of laps around the board, collect a predetermined sum of money, or collect all the movies. There are three different paths around the board to choose from as well, which helps to relieve the Deja Vu syndrome that plagues most board games. Up to four human players can play Viper Paradice, but you are credited for the movies you've collected only if you defeat 3 CPU opponents. Once CPU randomly determines the starting order and 'fortunate dice', 4 cards are handed out to each character, and the game begins.

Each character takes her turn rolling the die and moving the appropriate number of squares. There are seven types of common squares on a Viper Paradice board:

Sogna had evidently planned out the game mechanics quite carefully, because the map layout plays as well as it looks. There are very few dead squares in Viper Paradice, so dull moments where nothing happens will be few and far in between. Most of the time you will be busy making some extra cash on the side here, paying some taxes there, purchasing Utility cards or Movie cards, and appreciating the technical excellence of Viper ero-animation movie clips. There are many movie clips recycled from previous Viper releases, as well as about 25 or so brand new ero-animation movie clips drawn exclusively for Viper Paradice, albeit at half the usual size and resolution for normal Viper releases. If you think your [dubious] skill of rolling critical misses will make a loser of you, put your fears to rest, because the road to victory lies in the cards. You can take a turn moving a number of squares equal to your die roll, or using one of the cards in your inventory. Five distinct types of cards can be earned or purchased in a normal Viper Paradice game:

You earn most of the cards found in the game when you land on a pink plaid square, but may also earn them if your die roll matched the 'fortunate die' as well. Cards do not have to be used immediately when you earn them; because each character can hold up to a maximum of eight cards in her inventory, it opens up a whole plethora of strategies. A Utility card like double dice allows you to roll two dice instead of the usual one die, whereas another Utility card like Line Change allows you to swap a row of movie clips you've collected with those collected by one of your opponents. These are just two examples of the many different Utility cards you will come across in Viper Paradice. Telecards don't seem to do very much, but if you collected a set of them, some mysterious benefit is supposed to materialize. Event cards cannot be either sold or discarded, but these also are supposed to provide some continuous benefits or detriments. It appears that Hobibox Europe had once more screwed up their localization effort, by rushing Viper Paradice out to retailers with a lot of gameplay bugs, as well as strange Engrish. This is probably why a lot of gameplay elements that were supposed to take effect in game never actually do so. For instance, a Event card like Vumper is supposed to prevent its owner from ever taking more than one step each turn; another event card like Small Movie is supposed to reduce the size of the movies during playback. In actuality, none of the Event cards provide the effects they are supposed to carry out. Such a gameplay bug may seem trivial, since neither beneficial nor detrimental event cards have any impact on the game. Upon closer inspection, these bugs are disruptive to strategic planning against your opponents, because switching your detrimental event cards with one of your opponent's fails to deter her, thereby destroying your chances of catching up to other players. The broken Event cards are such glaring demerits, that the overall score for Viper Paradice in Gameplay is docked a few points.

Sogna discarded their traditional preference for CD-DA for this Viper release, and adopted MP3 files instead for BGM accompaniments. These BGM are accessed on demand, so when one MP3 track is over, the whole game freezes up for a brief second or two as the second MP3 loads. They are all excellent and catchy in my opinion, but there are a total of maybe only 3 or 4 BGM accompaniments, and taking into account the average time for a full Viper Paradice game is roughly an hour or so, you'll soon grow tired of them, and probably be better off playing the game without sound. If you want to collect the 95 movie clips in order to complete the movie album, it's a given that you'll be playing Viper Paradice over and over again, because in each game you can collect a maximum of four sets of randomly selected movie clips.

The graphics of Viper Paradice are fairly good, pretty much everything is rendered colorfully and beautifully; the game engine even supports some smooth sprite scaling with minimal pixelation. Interface is clean and easy to navigate with a mouse, but if you don't want to use a mouse, Viper Paradice can be navigated with a keyboard as well. If the game is too slow for your taste, you have the option to increase the speed of the engine. The game also supports quick save, so you can return to play Viper Paradice from the place you last left off. Even at half the size and resolution, Viper animation reigns supreme as the sovereign of technically brilliant ero-animation, and is the primary incentive for attracting Bishoujo gamers to replay Viper Paradice over and over again. Sogna succeeds once again with another Viper title, filled to the brim with the sweetest animated booty, and that's the inescapable truth.

Epilogue: On two separate instances I sent electronic mail to Hobibox Europe to notify them of the gameplay bugs mentioned in this review. They quickly replied to say that they were unaware of the bugs, and would discuss them with the original publisher Sogna in hopes of finding a remedy. There is a history of Japanese companies rarely maintaining close communication with their foreign overseas subsidiaries, hence I am not holding my breath that Hobibox Europe will release a patch for fixing the bugs anytime soon.

I was nice to be around them.

Interviewer: How did you feel when your first video came out?

Kurumi: I thought, 'This ain't how it should be.' (laughs) 'Why was I so bubbly?' 'I am pretty weird.' 'Keep this up and I am in trouble.' That is all I could say about it.

Interviewer: A real shocking impression. On a different note, you were crying in your third video, right?

Kurumi: I have a tendency to hold things in. I go too far when things aren't right. 'Hey, I'll be OK', I thought. It isn't stress but something held inside just comes out at the darnest times.

Interviewer: You seem to be a strong-minded person.

Kurumi: I don't tend to cry in front of people. Not even my family. That was actually the first time in front of other people.

Interviewer: And how many videos have you shot now?

Kurumi: Eleven, I think.

Interviewer: Has it changed your attitude towards sex?

Kurumi: Oh yeah, it changed. The things I do and even how I feel are different now. Some may think it is strange that I could come this far. But I think there is much more left for me to do. 'You ain't seen nothing, yet.'

Interviewer: Wow. And how about sex outside work?

Kurumi: I don't see much of that lately. But I feel that I have come to be more open with myself. I was passive before. Now I feel that I should give some back to. I have come from 'It is nice just to sleep together.' to 'Just sleeping together is not enough for me!'

Interviewer: Sounds good to me!

Kurumi: I get a good feeling sucking my boyfriend off and seeing how much he enjoys it when I look at his face.

Interviewer: So you are gonna escalate in the stuff you do. Something abnormal?

Kurumi: I really don't like S&M, though. I'm not into stuff that hurts or is hot. But, anything goes when on video. Whipping and hitting are fine as long as I can't get killed. But in private sex, I don't even like to use 'toys'.

Interviewer: A real pro.

Kurumi: I had no problems at all on the set of the video where they had me drink 40 guys' cum (laughs). Afterwards, I got sick thinking back on the taste of it. Guess I am good when under pressure.

Interviewer: Not very good tasting stuff?

Kurumi: Oh, you know what it tastes like? Amount, thickness, and color are all different for different people.

Interviewer: Is that so? That's very educational.

Kurumi: Yeah, it isn't a delicacy. You gotta put some effort in the job.

Interviewer: Do you ever think, 'Wow, that was something,' after taping?

Kurumi: Hmmm... It has to be when I peed in the face of an actor. I had to hold it so long to get the amount they needed. It was a real streamer (laughs).

Interviewer: That is a real story.

Kurumi: Oh, it was so much fun.

Interviewer: You really like sex, huh?

Kurumi: Love it.

Interviewer: What do you love about it?

Kurumi: It doesn't just feel good. There is this real deep psychological thing about it. Something you can only get in sex.

Interviewer: If you had a choice, is it something you would like to do with someone you like, huh?

Kurumi: But I always worry too much about having a boyfriend. I get so caught up that all I think about is my boyfriend. If he says to me just once that he can't meet me, I think that he is having an affair. I get so uneasy. I just get too hung up on the guy. Kinda strange, huh? It is much easier to have a 'one-way love affair'.

Interviewer: The heart of a maiden is impossible to fathom. So, what type of guy do you usually fall for?

Kurumi: Somebody who follows his own path. Someone like Yoshii-san from the group Yellow Monkey. I really love him and see him in my dreams.

Interviewer: Ever had a dream of sex with him?

Kurumi: How could you even think of that? I see him playing in concert most of the time. Oh, and sometimes we are having sex.

Interviewer: I thought so. Kurumi, do you think of this as your dream job?

Kurumi: No. I think that I am not really cut out for this kind of work.

Interviewer: I didn't think you would say that.

Kurumi: But I do intend to keep with this work. If possible, under the direction of Tohjiro. The set is so fun on his films.

Interviewer: What are you looking forward to doing in the future?

Kurumi: I wanna do it as I think, not like I am instructed to do. I don't like to make much flashy expressions but I wanna do some really dangerous stuff.

Interviewer: Oh, like what?

Kurumi: I have been on the receiving end a lot. I wanna be 'on the attack' sometimes. But I don't think I could do it if all of a sudden, they said that was on the script. I have to get into it little by little. Maybe I can do it after about 30 more videos (laughs).

Interviewer: I hear that you've been called "The Queen of Indies AVs".

Kurumi: Yeah, I have. I don't like it though (laughter).

Interviewer: You've only worked on Indies?

Kurumi: Yes. I've always been working with Soft On Demand. I've done over 20 films with them so far.

Interviewer: So it's not like you particularly prefer doing Indies?

Kurumi: Not at all. It just worked out that way.

Interviewer: You seem to do a lot of hardcore scenes?

Kurumi: I never really noticed it. I don't remember ever thinking that SOD is making me do hardcore stuff. But I do think that mine's more risque when compared to most other AV Actresses.

Interviewer: Have you ever thought that doing Idol-esque films would be better?

Kurumi: Not at all (laughter). I think the way I do them is better befitting an AV actress.

Interviewer: Are you a fan of your own videos?

Kurumi: Nope. See, I'm pretty unconfident about my works so when I watch them at home I'll be like "There's something wrong about that scene" or "I could've done better than that!"

Interviewer: You mean like as when you look at it from a consumer's viewpoint?

Kurumi: Hmmm? It gets a little complicated so I'm not really sure. I can tell what's wrong on other people's videos though.

Interviewer: Such as?

Kurumi: Since I look at it from a female standpoint, if the characters are interesting I think of it as them being cute, not sexy. The one person who I thought was sexy was Ayanami Ryou. You think that she's sexy even if you're a female, which I think is special.

Interviewer: What do you find about her that's sexy?

Kurumi: It just seems so right. Her voice is good too.

Interviewer: Do you think that you're sexy?

Kurumi: I don't really see myself that way. I don't really want to get cornered into one role. It'll be boring then.

Interviewer: So you want to do other work besides the ones you do for SOD?

Kurumi: I think I want to star in a movie. Being cast as something like "Student A" is good enough, you know. I don't really see myself as becoming a huge star...

Interviewer: So you want to break into the movie business?

Kurumi: I do think about it sometimes.

Interviewer: Does that mean that you started doing these videos in order to eventually get such work?

Kurumi: No, not at all. It just crosses my mind every once in a while when I'm working...

Interviewer: Is there anything you feel lacking in your current line of work?

Kurumi: I wonder about that myself...I have felt that even my best works were so so, like there's this big gap. I always think that I could've done better, but I never really know what I could've improved on.

Interviewer: In what circumstances do you feel that you could've done better?

Kurumi: ...well, (embarrassed) I...I don't want to tell...(laughter).

Interviewer: That's a rather abrupt way to end this conversation (laughter).

Kurumi: (A little nervous)...well, I'm an AV actress so I don't really try to be sexy..., and I don't think I trust other people much..., but I like doing this type of work!

Interviewer: ??? That was a bit all over the place.

Kurumi: There are things I like to do and things I don't...

Interviewer: Like?

Kurumi: A cameraman once told me "You have no right to be happy if you're nothing but a damned AV actress!". Well, he said it after I refused to go out with him, but it was still a bit of a shock...

"I didn't want to show my loneliness to anyone else."

Interviewer: Has there ever been anyone where you've shown all your weaknesses?

Kurumi: ...nope, none. I'm really prideful....really.

Interviewer: So there hasn't been anyone?

Kurumi: Yeah. Especially to my boyfriend.

Interviewer: Is that also due to your lack of trust?

Kurumi: Hmmm? I just can't seem to open up completely, for some reason.

Interviewer: Have you ever thought that you'll feel better if you did open up?

Kurumi: I do think that it'll be wonderful if I could...but I can't!

Interviewer: So you're not good at getting spoiled.

Kurumi: I don't spoil people, and they don't spoil me. Maybe it's because I was never spoiled...

Interviewer: Were you trying to grow up fast when you were young?

Kurumi: No, I just thought that was normal while I was growing up, so I did everything myself, without relying on anyone else.

Interviewer: Don't you have a lot of stress?

Kurumi: I think I've been under a fair bit of stress recently. At first, I had no idea what it was that was bothering me though.

Interviewer: So what happens when you're stressed out?

Kurumi: I start to hallucinate, Hahahaha. Around this time last year, I was suffering from some depression and I was worried that if I got even more stressed out I'd be in deep trouble. Then out of no where I thought I saw a cat pass by me but when I checked again the cat was on the other side of the street!

Interviewer: ...so any other bad memories of your childhood aside from your parents fighting?

Kurumi: Ah...I hated my father. My brother's a year younger than me and we'd always say things like "Let's finish him off" and things like that (laughter). "We can't wait for god to act!" and stuff like that.

Interviewer: What didn't you like about your father?

Kurumi: He'd drink ALL the time, and when he sobered up he'd scream at all of us. And if you tried to change the channel, he'd put it back on to baseball but he wouldn't say a word to you...you know, that type.

Interviewer: Were you ever beaten?

Kurumi: Oh, all the time. My brother and I once decided to "really kill him this time!", but there were a lot of murder cases going on at the time and on TV and you'd see them all get captured. So we figured that we'd get caught too and decided to abandon the idea.

Interviewer: So as a kid you felt your dad was worse than your mom?

Kurumi: Yep. Not that I really care anymore. They got divorced when I was a junior in high school.

Interviewer: So until you were a junior your family life was pretty crappy?

Kurumi: I guess so...we were all living under dad's watchful eye until then. We didn't know when he'd blow up at us. But he seems to be doing pretty well now. I consider my mom to be my only real parent but my dad's in Tokyo so we contact each other every once a while. We went out to eat dinner together recently.

Interviewer: So you two are close now?

Kurumi: Not really close, but he seemed really lonely, so...it sorta of made me sad seeing him like that...

Interviewer: What did you talk about? Didn't it feel weird?

Kurumi: I didn't like it at all. But we didn't really talk about anything important...you know how it is...

Interviewer: Since you grew up in such a family setting, didn't you want to get loved by the people around you?

Kurumi: Oh, of course. I really wanted to get along with everyone and make tons of friends but sometimes it ended up as being "I don't need any friends!" I didn't want to show anyone else how lonely I really was deep inside.

There's not too many people who has such a perfect body as this.

Hello, it's me again, evangelizing for another fine product we sell at J-List (pardon me). This time it's the "out of retirement" DVD of Mai Hagiwara, the lovely Japanese sex kitten who is a hot property of the Eichi Publishing company, the makers of Bejean, Gokuh and several other magazines, and also of Bauhaus.

Mai is back from retirement, after doing what virtually all AV idols do in Japan, retiring for a few months and then coming back. (When Maiko Yuki retired, she came back with a strange scar on her stomach, so we know why she retired.) Mai seems to have been taking a break though, and letting Maiko Kazano take center stage as Eichi/Bauhaus's flagship model.

The DVD is a very nice one. It features much of what has become the standard Japanese soft porn DVD model: starting out playful, escalating to more and more sexy imagery, as if growing up from child to adult. We get to see Mai dress in a bunny suit, and when she sheds it, she's nekkid underneath. She rolls playfully on a bed, showing her sexy body and shedding her clothes shyly one by one.

The DVD shows you the "private life" of Maichy (that's her nickname, a kind of Mai-ified spelling of the word "mighty"). You get to see her in her shower, get to see her getting dressed and also get to see her "suppin," or her pure face without makup on. Also we are shown what she looks like with glasses on.

The steamier shots are quiet steamy and very artistically cool to sit back and enjoy. Two versions of Maichy pose erotically on a sofa, one looking like a pure cheerleader and the other like a sexy lady of the night. The director uses effects like shouldercam and holding the camera at angles to create many interesting effects. They know you want to get up close to Mai-chan's body and the camera does that quite well, with a big wide macro lens.

It's 90 minutes, so you can see that they really tried to give you a lot of satisfaction for your money. It includes a bunch of photos which you can browse with your DVD player, as well as unreleased footage and some test video that are like bloopers. There's no making of in this production as there have been in others.

The DVD is nice because, like the there Maichy soft porn releases, there is no mosiac over her pubic hair shots. And it's region free, so you don't need a special player.

So...once again I am recommending this item, although I am biased since J-List has been behind Mai Hagiwara from the beginning, pushing her as much as we can. To us though, she represents almost the perfect young Japanese girl, smart, cute, playful and every bit a woman. So we don't mind recommending this DVD to you.
